Nurses / Doctors can earn from teaching seafarers. Here’s how

A registered nurse / doctor can either teach or assess seafarers taking Basic Training – Elementary First-Aid (BT-EFA), Medical First Aid (MEFA) and/or Medical Care (MECA) courses.

How? It’s by simply attending IMO Model Courses 6.09 and 3.12. Thereafter, one secures MARINA accreditation certificates.

Here’s the summary of requirements.

As instructor.

  1. IMO Model Course 6.09 Training and Certificate.
  2. MARINA Accreditation Certificate.

– Bring IMO M.C. 6.09 Training Certificate and valid PRC ID / PRC Certicate / Rating to MARINA’s Accreditation Division.

– Applicant should have least one (1) year in-service experience as registered nurse / doctor.

As assessor.

  1. IMO Model Course 3.12 Training and Certificate.
  2. MARINA Accreditation Certificate.

– Bring IMO M.C. 3.12 Training Certificate and Practical Assessor’s Experience Log (PAEL) to MARINA’s Accreditation Division.
